Gilberto is a native Texan that has been on a mission to building trusted relationships throughout his career as an entrepreneur, senior business advisor and political and public stakeholder engagement strategist.
His trusted political and business network spans corporate executives, community leaders, operatives, entrepreneurs and elected officials. Trusted relationships begin with gathering critical business and political intelligence, performing authentic outreach and crafting communications engagement strategies. He has been CEO of Ocañas Group consulting since 1992 and since 2007 as Senior Advisor for Dentons the largest global law firm https, where he provides government and business advisory services. He also founded served as CEO if WinTex International the first Texas lottery and security printing company for 16 years serving Texas and other states.
A veteran of four presidential campaigns, Gilberto managed statewide campaigns in Texas and was one of the first Hispanics to do so. He is proud to have served under the late Willie Velasquez as director of Communications for the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project. His political and business experience provides him with key insights into business growth and engaging public and governmental stakeholders. The success of his business enterprise, coupled with his commitment to the Latino community, garnered him local recognition as the “Hispanic Businessman of the Year” as well as “Volunteer of the Year” by the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
