Axel Herrera Ramos (He/Him): North Carolina Civic Engagement ManagerAxel was born in Honduras and immigrated with his family when he was seven in 2005. He credits a lot of his success to two beautiful and strong women in his life — his madre y abuela. He is also a big brother always trying to take care of his two younger sisters.

Axel has been a DACA recipient since 2014 and has focused the bulk of his young leadership experience on immigrant justice and education equity. He is an NC public schools champion and currently lives in Durham, NC.

He attended Duke University and graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a double major in Sociology.

After graduating, he spent a year doing a college advising service role in Eastern NC. More recently, he has spent the last few years doing electoral organizing in NC seeking to empower more Latinx youth. He is excited to join MFV’s launch in NC to make a powerful impact by leading programs and electoral field campaigns.
