• Rising Grocery Bills: Americans are facing the sharpest increase in grocery prices in 50 years and are expected to rise another 2.7%. 
• Economic Stability: Affordability isn't just about a single bill—it determines whether working families can meet their basic needs while retaining enough to save, respond to emergencies, or invest in their future.
• Decisions made at the federal, state, and local levels directly dictate taxes, healthcare programs, housing, energy policy, and support for working families. 
• That is why it is important for our communities to understand not only what things cost, but also who makes the decisions that can affect those costs.

• Homeownership in Texas is becoming further out of reach as home prices, mortgage rates, property taxes, and insurance premiums continue to rise
• Renters face similar pressures, with rents rising faster than wages in many communities
• The cost of homeowners insurance and private hazard coverage has become another major financial burden, particularly in communities vulnerable to natural disasters
• This is a crisis: 2 out of 3 Texans can’t afford even a typical home after insurance costs
• Those costs are in part due to more severe weather and natural disasters due to climate change

Healthcare is under attack. More than 10 million Americans face losing health coverage. Healthcare should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. It is a basic necessity that every family depends on.

• Texas has a high uninsured rate. It also struggles with high rates of poverty, obesity, hypertension, diabetes and kidney disease. Cutting programs that help people see a doctor doesn't make those illnesses disappear—it means more people go without treatment until they end up in the emergency room.
• South Texas is already facing a serious health crisis. 
  • In the RGV, a CMS-data study found diabetes prevalence among the population studied was 43.95%, compared with 26.73% nationally. Yet this is exactly the kind of medically underserved community that is especially vulnerable when Medicaid and other health programs are cut.
• When policymakers weaken Medicaid or other health safety-net programs, they're not cutting numbers on a spreadsheet — they're making it harder for working Latino families in Texas to manage diabetes, afford medication, see a doctor and stay healthy.
• Decisions made in Washington and Austin have real impacts on whether Texas families can see a doctor, fill a prescription, or receive preventive care before a health problem becomes a crisis.

Immigration policies have immediate, human consequences across Texas. Immigrants are our neighbors, coworkers, small-business owners, parents, students, and vital community members. 

• Aggressive federal immigration enforcement is destabilizing neighborhoods without basic oversight or accountability.
• Indiscriminate enforcement leaves families fearing separation, workers hesitant to go to job sites, and parents anxious about taking their children to school or seeking medical care.
