TEXAS—Mi Familia en Acción is committed to promoting economic and social justice through our citizenship, voter registration, and education efforts and programs. As such, we are proud to announce that we have assisted 10,562 eligible new voters in applying to register to vote in Texas this year.
Dayana Iza released the following statement in response to this news:
“As of Thursday, September 26, we have helped 10,562 eligible voters apply to register to vote. In this election, everything is on the ballot for Texans. The economy, housing, health care, and immigration are crucial to our communities.
No matter what we look like or where we live, Texans know that for democracy to work for all of us, it must include every one of us, Black or white, Asian or Latine. But today, certain state and local politicians in power try to silence the people’s voices by undermining their freedom to vote and turn us against each other so we won’t show up for our community members and friends.
They try to distract us while they take away some freedoms, give our money to the rich, and control our lives and our bodies. Texans have come together and shown up for each other in times of crisis, as we saw after hurricanes, during blackouts or winter storms, and in critical elections. We know how powerful we are when we are united, informed, and prepared to raise our voices.
We are urging everyone who can, to vote early and avoid waiting in line! Preparing a plan to vote early makes it easier to ensure your voice is heard. Inaction at the polls harms all Texans, from our baby cousins to our grandparents. Let’s register to vote now!
Can’t vote? ¡No te pongas triste! You can share information with your loved ones who can vote and talk about issues that matter to y’all. We are stronger when we ask questions and learn together!
From Brownsville to Amarillo, Beaumont to El Paso, we all make up the fabric of Texas. We need policies that uphold our value as hardworking Texans, not attack our freedom to decide who governs in our name. Together as voters and allies, we can create a Texas that truly serves everyone, no matter the color of their skin or the languages we speak.”
