Become Climate Voters

Community Education, Environment

September 9, 2024

Arizona- Thank you to everyone who joined us for the recent discussion hosted by Mi Familia En Acción in collaboration with Poder Latinx. We had a fantastic conversation about how our voting choices directly influence the climate crisis and the well-being of our communities.

Here’s What We Covered:

  • The Power of Your Vote: We explored how voting decisions affect climate policy and environmental justice. By participating in elections, we help shape the future of our climate and advocate for policies that protect our environment and health.
  • Asthma Rates and Communities of Color: Our discussion highlighted the alarming impact of environmental issues on health, particularly asthma rates among communities of color. Addressing climate change can lead to cleaner air and healthier communities.
  • Tree Equity: We talked about the importance of tree equity in urban areas. Trees play a crucial role in combating the heat island effect and improving air quality, and equitable distribution of green spaces is essential for community health and well-being.
  • The Heat Island Effect: The conversation also covered how urban heat islands exacerbate climate impacts, particularly in underserved areas. Addressing this issue can help reduce temperatures and improve living conditions in our communities.
  • Important Election Dates: We emphasized key election dates ahead of the November 5 election. We reminded voters that the voting registration deadline is October 7 and other important deadlines.

Become a Climate Voter!

Our choices at the polls matter. By voting for leaders and policies that prioritize environmental justice and climate action, we can drive meaningful change. Join Mi Familia En Acción and Poder Latinx in becoming a climate voter and making your voice heard.
